Jungle Berry will have a stand with loads of our fair trade jewellery at the Bristol Vegan Fayre, which takes place on Saturday 31 May - Sunday 1 June.

This annual event is one of our favourite festivals, with a great line-up of music, food, stalls and loads more - and it's right in the heart of Bristol.

Our Fair Trade Principles

We aim to incorporate the ideals of fair trade and sustainability at every level of our business.

These are the principles that we practice at Jungle Berry:

- All Jungle Berry producers receive fair prices commensurate with the local cost of living in the area of production. We will not engage in a race to the bottom in pursuit of the very cheapest products at the expense of producers' livelihoods and their environment.

- As a fair trade enterprise, we are committed to making regular orders and providing advance payments to producers. A steady income stream helps our producers plan for the future.

- We develop long-term relationships with producers based on mutual respect and understanding. By regularly visiting our producers we are able to ensure that production methods and working practices remain sound.

- Jungle Berry deals directly with producers, eliminating unnecessary or exploitative intermediaries. This means producers receive the direct benefits derived from selling to a wider marketplace, empowering them to re-invest in their work, lives and communities.

- The full added value of Jungle Berry products accrues to the producers. We're not in the business of buying up raw materials and using them to make the finished product ourselves. We believe the producers themselves should gain the maximum benefit from the materials they work with, enjoying the full added value of the finished product.

- In particular, we are committed to working with producers in remote or economically depressed areas who would otherwise struggle to gain access to wider markets.

- We act on a number of levels to limit Jungle Berry's environmental impact. We strive to ensure that the materials used in the production and packaging of Jungle Berry goods do not damage the environment; where possible, our packaging is re-usable. Our fair trade jewellery is made from naturally occurring seeds that are sustainably harvested. The woods used in our products have been salvaged from the offcuts of naturally felled trees or from reclaimed woods.

- Our environmental commitment extends to our decision to work in the Amazon rainforest. Fair trade in the rainforest offers a crucial incentive to artisans and producers living in the rainforest region to value the standing forest and its sustainable riches, not felled trees or cleared land.

- We use green energy sources and are committed to improving our energy efficiency. We reduce waste by recycling. We also offset the carbon emissions derived from our air travel and other carbon generating actions.
