A bit about fair trade jewellery

Jungle Berry's fair trade jewellery originates in the Amazon rainforest. It's here that the natural materials used across our fair trade jewellery range are found. And it's also in the Amazon rainforest that Jungle Berry's fair trade jewellery is produced, following fair trade principles.
Indigenous peoples of the Amazon have long used rainforest materials for both body adornments and beauty products. Following that tradition, we work in collaboration with local artisans, family producer groups and cooperatives, using the rainforest's seeds, berries, wood and natural fibres, to create contemporary designs of fair trade jewellery.
Here at Jungle Berry we are committed to supplying our customers with jewellery that is stylish, beautiful and affordable. But it's also ethically produced following fair trade principles. That's our fair trade commitment.
So what is fair trade jewellery?

The production of jewellery around the world too often involves harmful exploitation of both natural and human resources. Just witness the harmful effects of gold mining in countries like Peru, where cyanide is used to extract the gold, leading to untold environmental destruction. And let's not forget the sweatshop conditions of fast fashion jewellery manufacturing in so many parts of the world, where underpaid workers toil away under exploitative conditions.
At Jungle Berry, we are committed to the production of fair trade jewellery that is both genuinely beneficial to its makers and has a minimal impact on the environment - so you can wear your fair trade jewellery with a clear conscience. You can read more about the fair trade principles that guide our actions and govern our business here.
Using natural materials
The acai berry is the material you'll find in much of our fair trade jewellery range. Typically, the berry's juice is extracted to make a refreshing and healthy drink. The hard berry husk that remains is then usually discarded. However, our artisans retrieve these husks to use in Jungle Berry's range of fair trade necklaces, bracelets and belts.
You'll also find a variety of other naturally occurring seeds, woods and natural fibres in our fair trade jewellery, all of which have been sustainably harvested or, like the acai berry husks, retrieved and recycled.
A fabulous extra touch to your fairly traded jewellery

We have gone the extra mile here at Jungle Berry. You will receive your beautiful fair trade jewellery in our fabulous new eco-packaging, also fairly traded. Because our ethical principles extend to our packaging, so that your fair trade purchase really can be called ethical.
Sustainably-sourced in southern Mexico, our smart fair trade jewellery pouches are made from natural palm fibre from the coast of Oaxaca, and woven together by women artisans.
Best of all, the fair trade jewellery pouches are sturdy little boxes which can house all manner of treasures, and can be used over and over again. What a nice change to the wasteful packaging that so many purchases arrive in!
Re-usable, sustainable and fairly traded - those are our triple benefits behind the purchase of our fair trade jewellery.
